Update on Potentially crippling storm, plus how it compares to the 13th 14th storm...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Update on Storm... (Must See)
Part 2: Westport Weather... (Must See)

Part 1:

Well most of you in the Northeast from DC, to NYC, to Portland, and all the way back to Pittsburgh and the Great lakes area have already seen an excessive amount of rain... To be more specific, most areas have already seen 2 inches of rain!!!!... From NYC, Berkshires, Baltimore, DC, and west, you're probably noticing the rain getting lighter... Fewf... It's over... Right? Not at all!!!! In fact, most of you from Philly to Portland will see an addition 4 inches of rain!!!!... On top of that the wind is going to kick in, and the main storm hasn't even really started... So the first storm, which brought a band of heavy rain that is still going on in Eastern areas, is going to slowly transform into this monster rain and wind storm that is down hanging around the Carolina's right now... Once the energy is transferred from the first storm to the second storm, the things will only get worse... So you think it's bad now, well there's a whole lot more coming... Now one thing that isn't factored in currently is the wind... All across the Northeast the winds aren't really about 20 mph... Well as this storm rapidly strengthens there will likely be a strong wind driven rain... And for the first time ever, I'm going to make a rain map, and a wind map!!!!... Hope you enjoy...

Wind Map...

Rain Map...

So as you can see that the target zone is going to be from areas to the south and west of Philly all the way to Boston and in between... There we'll have 6-8 inches of rain, and wind up to 50 mph!!!! This really worries me, because I'm actually comparing it to the 13th and 14th storm of March this year which left 5 people dead and NJ, Southeastern NY, and CT devastated with millions of dollars in damage, and left this blog talking about it more than 3 weeks after the event... This may be similar... Now the differences... The 13th and 14th storm was a generally wind destructed storm, but definitely had a lot of flood damage... This storm is going to be the exact same way, just vice versa... Meaning this storm will be a generally flooding storm with a lot of wind... So the same areas that got killed last time, be prepared again, because this may be a similar storm... We're talking lots of trees down, although probably less than last time, crazy flooding everywhere, widespread power outages, widespread road closures, and yes, even the possibility of some school closures... So stay safe, and my advise to you is to stay inside tonight...

Part 2:

So what have we had today... Well currently we have picked up already around 2 out of the 6 or 8 inches of rain in the forecast... So I'm sure a lot of you are thinking... Only 2?!?!?! Yes, only two... We may have an additional 4-6 inches of rain before all is done... I know already a couple local roads have been closed due to flooding, and i expect more to be closed as the night progresses... Now i do think that saguatuck island and the coastal Westport areas, have a good chance of being evacuated sometime later tonight or tomorrow morning... Just driving around in my general area i can see that there are many flooded properties and streets already, but i haven't yet seen closer to the coast and along the river where I'm sure it's much worse... Now, this is only the first of our problems... So, the trees are very loose due to the 13th and 14th storm still, plus the heavy rain today, and now we have to worry about more wind... Yes!!!! Tonight i think we will have wind gusts close to 50 mph and a heavy wind driven rain which will cause the following...

1. More Road closures due to flooding and downed trees...
2. (the worst of them all)... Widespread Power outages and downed lines...
3. The slim chance of school closings!!!!
4. Evacuations along the coastal areas...
5. More housing damage...

So... I am sure you all saw number 3... Yes, there is that chance for no school tomorrow... There are already some small hints of this happening... Greenwich CT today cancelled all after school activities... Now I'm currently putting a 25% chance of no school tomorrow, but when it comes to predicting school closings when there is no snow, it's very hard... So we will see... That is it for now... Have a great day, and remember to be safe...
