Part 1:
Once again i am sorry that i was not able to update until 10:00 PM!!!! The generator actually went out today because it is not meant to run that amount of time... Believe it or not, we actually got our power back today at around 8:00 PM!!!! So blogging shouldn't really be a big problem anymore, but my computer is actually broken so i have to use someone else's which may be another problem... But enough about my issues, lets get to the weather...
Part 2:
This is a warning to everyone in the country who has had a harsh winter... I have come to a decision that winter is 100% not over... Do not think that spring is here!!!! It is a mistake!!!! This is just the warm up i have been talking about for the past 2 weeks... It will not last... So let's get to the details... The storm will take place beginning on the 21st for areas like cleveland, pittsburgh, western virginia, and that general area... It will be a fairly thin band of heavy rain with a brief period of moderate or heavy snow on the back side... This moisture will make its way to the east, and will be affecting the big cities by the 22nd... The moisture will be expanding as it moves eastward and there may be wind along with is as well, which is NOT good news at all for the hard hit areas from the recent weekend storm. Trust me though when i say this will be no where near as bad as the weekend storm! It looks like the worst of any of the snow will be back toward Detroit and Chicago, and will only be for a brief time with little if any accumulations... East of there it look to be a very close call with the rain/snow line right on top of the heavy precipitation... It looks like it will be all heavy rain for the big cities and then flurries or a brief snow shower on the back side of the storm... It looks like a longer period of snow flurries and showers are more likely as you head westward into PA, WV, TN mountains, and out toward Ohio... Behind it is where things get interesting... By the night of the 22nd it looks like everyone will be clear since this is a very quick moving system... Very cold air will follow this storm and lows for even the big cities and south will be well below freezing that night with frost and freezes likely... Meanwhile a high pressure system is sitting over southern TX and a low or blob of moisture is beginning to develop over FL where heavy rains and wind will take place... The cold air will only get colder with hight in the mid and lower 40s for DC and Baltimore while low 40's and maybe some upper 30's will take place over Philadelphia, NYC, Hartford, and Boston... North and west of there mid 30's are likely with air continuing to get colder... This blob of moisture will at least make an attempt to develop into something and move north... As of now the storm will move out to see, but looks like it will give a clip of some very heavy wet snow to the Carolinas!!!! Yes, THE CAROLINAS!!!! Currently you are seeing 70s down there... Don't be fooled! Now the models show the storm will make a very near miss, so don't be surprised if we have a new storm on our hands around the 23 for the Northeast... After that a series of storms will come through and the temperatures will rise and lower again and again with these storms... For the big cities it looks like each of these storms has a chance for some snow but again we may begin to find a storm in particular... I will say now, I think we may have a cold and possibly wintry beginning to April which is not at all normal...
Part 3:
I cannot begin to tell you just how crazy the damage still is... Still CT has most of its power out along the coast... Trees are still down 3 days after the storm on roads!!!! Power lines are still on roads and houses are damaged... The cost of the whole storm will likely cost up to 1 million dollars in damage... Power crews have been called down from NH to areas in the Tri-State area... Winds reported of up to 78 mph and rainfall actually reached 8 inches for some across CT... I would say without a doubt that CT got the worst damage out of this storm, and the press still doesn't care... I was listening to some of the news channels today and they acted like CT wasn't even on the map!!!! Well it is, and i'll tell you this storm changed it forever, causing the death now of at least 5 people... I will tell you it's still a really scary sight out here with fire trucks and ambulances, as well as other emergency vehicles out and around here all the time... It is also a nice sight though to see everyone working together as a community in a time of need...
Part 4:
I just briefly wanted to talk about this week and how nice the weather will finally be!!!!.... Today a lot of you reached 60 and areas to the north, who got actually some snow out of the last storm, reached 50... it will only get warmer later this week with the warmest day probably being on Thursday where DC and Baltimore may reach 70, Philadelphia, NYC, Hartford, and Boston will probably be in the Mid 60s and inland of there will probably be anywhere from 60 (in the higher elevations) to 70 (in the valleys, and far from water). That's it from here, enjoy your lovely week...
Part 5:
I don't have much to say other than WOW, which has been the same word i've used for the past 3 days... FOR THE THIRD day in arrow, yes 3, the WESTPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED!!!! I honestly think this is because at least one of the schools has no power... I am almost sure though that we will have school on Thursday unless something crazy were to happen, which is not out of the question considering what's been going on lately... The next couple of days will be gorgeous with temperatures reaching the mid and upper 60s by Thursday... The power has finally gone on here, but as you know, Westport is still way out of wack... The last time i checked, still more than 1/3 of Westport has no power, which is a lot of people... Actually, it's over 4,000 costumers... Well that's it for now... Good luck cleaning up...
Note: I should have the photos and videos of the Aftermath from the storm by sometime tomorrow!!!!
