Part 1: Final cold shot of the season...
Part 2: WARNING: Big storm on the way...
Part 3: Warm weather coming quickly... Spring is really here...
Part 4: SNOW????... Still????...
Part 5: Important Westport Weather Update...
Part 1:
Well That was it... the cold shot is pretty much done now... We actually actually had a few record setting lows across portions of the interior Northeast and some of the higher elevations... I even had reports of temps into the lower 20's in NYC, Philly, and even toward DC... and as you made your way to the northern suburbs there were teens popping up everywhere... Most of you were freezing yesterday and today even though highs in the 40s aren't really that cold, it just feels that way due to the 70 degree weather we all got used to... Luckily, this little cold streak is not going to last for long and by tomorrow we'll be back in the 50's... That's it for now... Enjoy your last shot of winter!!!!
Part 2:
Well unfortunatley, it seems we have another monster storm on the way... And what really scares me is that it resembles the weekend storm that hit a couple weeks ago which left UN real damage to the area... I think though, the only difference here is that instead of the wind being the main factor like last time, it will be the rain... Although there will be some strong winds, especially along the coast... If it's not raining by you already, it will be by the morning and probably be quite heavy at times... This will be a very long storm with the heavy rain starting tonight, and not stopping until Tuesday!!!! Flood watches and coastal advisories are posted all over the place... Now what exactly is going on to cause all of this? Well a low pressure is cutting across the WV area and is weakening quickly... What its doing is transferring all its energy to a second low which is going to develop just of the coast of south Carolina... It is not going to feel like two separate storms though, even though it really is... It's just going to be non stop rain and wind, although the wind will pick up with the second low... So the second Low will quickly strengthen and move up the coast and probably make a landfall somewhere in southern NJ... That's where the wind, rain, and damage will be the strongest... That's around early time on Tuesday around the morning hours... Then the storm will sit there for a little bit before moving back out to sea and quickly weakening... Total rainfalls will be from 3-6 inches and someone may get 8 inches of rain between NJ and CT... Winds are also likely to gust up to 50 mph in some areas... So it all narrows down to this... The worst of the storm will be Between Philly and Hartford... 6-8 inches is likely there, and again wind gusts up to 50 mph... This could certainly be a crippling storm, but it looks like by Wednesday things will finally begin to clear out... So take the warning, because again this may be a really bad storm...
Part 3:
Well after this cold shot, i think you'll all be happy to hear that by Thursday we may be back to 70 for a lot of people!!! And by the weekend, look for sun and temps in the mid 70s!!!! So i am officially announcing that Winter is over for real after Wednesday!!!! It will only get better from there... But what about before Wednesday????
Part 4:
Well if you live in DC, Philly, NYC, Boston, Portland, Syracuse, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and all the surrounding areas... then this does not apply to you... But The areas to the north and to the east of Burlington, may get one last shot... I'm talking about areas from Montpelier to Caribou where 3-6 inches are possible before the snow changes to rain later tomorrow... As you get into some of the mountains up to a foot of snow is possible...
Part 5:
Well i know what most of you are thinking... Here we go again!... And yes I'm thinking that too... What I'm hoping is this doesn't turn out the same way as last time, but there is that chance it might... Now the rain is currently starting as i continue to type, and won't stop until sometime on Wednesday... Once the rain starts it will almost instantly become heavy, and as you wake up tomorrow it is likely to be pouring... The wind will start out as calm but as the day wears on the first low will weaken and the second one will develop which will cause the wind to rapidly pick up... Once it does, gusts past 40 mph are likely and the heavy rain will continue and be at its worst sometime tomorrow night... Now since trees are already loose and winds will be strong again power outages may become very widespread again, and maybe, just maybe, we will need to talk about school issues... The main issue, other than the wind, will actually be the rain... Flooding is very likely and when the saugatuck river is at its highest, we're really going to be in trouble... Evacuations aren't out of the question for the really coastal areas... Well that's it for now... Be prepared for the worst...
