Photos, videos, and more on the floods... Boring, but beautiful weather on the way...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: More on the floods...
Part 2: Boring, but warm weather on the way...
Part 3: Westport Weather update...
Part 4: Photos from the major flood...

-Enjoy the last day of March!!! And remember... April showers bring May flowers!!!!

Part 1:

Well, quite a day yesterday... Actually the past 2 days... I think my rainfall forecast for the most part was pretty accurate... The reason i say, for the most part, is because all the forecasts called for locally 6 inches, or in other words, at most 6 inches... I was the odd one out, like usual, and said 8 inches of rain at most... Some places in and around Rhode Island actually picked up close to 9 inches of rain!!!! Also, if i were to draw it again, i probably would have cut it in half, and not have included CT, NY, and NJ... It's fairly obvious that Rhode Island got hit the hardest with road closures, school cancellations, widespread power outages, and widespread evacuations... Lots and lots of damage hit the area with rain that fell for a full 48 hours straight!!!! Although there was a lot of flooding and rain in CT, NY, and NJ, it was fortunately much less intense and damaging then the 13th 14th storm that hit nearly 3 weeks ago... Unfortunately these flooded rivers are going to take a long to to finally go back to there normal height, so we will continue to have flooding problems over the next 36-48+ hours...

Part 2: Well yes, for the meteorologist and weather nuts, it will be a very boring couple of days and maybe weeks weather wise... Starting tomorrow, south of I-80 is likely to hit 70, and even to the north we'll find anywhere from the upper 50's to the upper 60's... Sunshine, sunshine, and more sunshine will accompany this warm weather as well as calm winds... So whats causing this? Well it's the southwesterly winds that are now developing which will only make things warmer... Actually, something interesting, when there is a breeze which won't really happen over the next couple of days, the breeze will actually be warm... So instead of feeling cool when a breeze comes, you will actually feel warmer... The sun and temperatures around 65(interior sections) to 75 (Areas south of I-80) will last all the way until Sunday... Sunday it looks like the sun will start to hide behind the clouds, and the there is the possibility for a couple showers late Sunday and into Monday where a cold front will come through... If you are in the 70's on Sunday, by Monday it is likely you will be in the 60's... Then a slow warm up should take place again, and by time we get into late next week and next weekend temps should be back up into the 70's again...

Part 3: Well, the Westport district was pretty much slammed with heavy rain and even some gusty winds over the past 48-60 hours... Luckily it was no where near the storm we had 3 weeks ago which pretty much shut down Westport... Expect much improving conditions over the next couple of days with the saugatuck river slowly receding back to its normal height, and hopefully basements being pumped out... And it shouldn't be a problem over the next couple of days since temps will be way up into the 60's and we may even hit 70 by Friday... So get out there and enjoy the southwesterly breeze!!!! That's it for now... You should all check out the Photo and Video section because everything was filmed in Westport, CT...

Part 4:

Just wanted to let you know that the river that you are seeing is the end part of the Saugatuck river, which is usually just a small river or some might even call it a stream... So the trees you see in the water, should NOT be there...

This was a stream of water, barely visible from the road before, but it was certainly visible yesterday...

This was also a stream of water... Well not anymore...

Hope you enjoyed...

Update on Potentially crippling storm, plus how it compares to the 13th 14th storm...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Update on Storm... (Must See)
Part 2: Westport Weather... (Must See)

Part 1:

Well most of you in the Northeast from DC, to NYC, to Portland, and all the way back to Pittsburgh and the Great lakes area have already seen an excessive amount of rain... To be more specific, most areas have already seen 2 inches of rain!!!!... From NYC, Berkshires, Baltimore, DC, and west, you're probably noticing the rain getting lighter... Fewf... It's over... Right? Not at all!!!! In fact, most of you from Philly to Portland will see an addition 4 inches of rain!!!!... On top of that the wind is going to kick in, and the main storm hasn't even really started... So the first storm, which brought a band of heavy rain that is still going on in Eastern areas, is going to slowly transform into this monster rain and wind storm that is down hanging around the Carolina's right now... Once the energy is transferred from the first storm to the second storm, the things will only get worse... So you think it's bad now, well there's a whole lot more coming... Now one thing that isn't factored in currently is the wind... All across the Northeast the winds aren't really about 20 mph... Well as this storm rapidly strengthens there will likely be a strong wind driven rain... And for the first time ever, I'm going to make a rain map, and a wind map!!!!... Hope you enjoy...

Wind Map...

Rain Map...

So as you can see that the target zone is going to be from areas to the south and west of Philly all the way to Boston and in between... There we'll have 6-8 inches of rain, and wind up to 50 mph!!!! This really worries me, because I'm actually comparing it to the 13th and 14th storm of March this year which left 5 people dead and NJ, Southeastern NY, and CT devastated with millions of dollars in damage, and left this blog talking about it more than 3 weeks after the event... This may be similar... Now the differences... The 13th and 14th storm was a generally wind destructed storm, but definitely had a lot of flood damage... This storm is going to be the exact same way, just vice versa... Meaning this storm will be a generally flooding storm with a lot of wind... So the same areas that got killed last time, be prepared again, because this may be a similar storm... We're talking lots of trees down, although probably less than last time, crazy flooding everywhere, widespread power outages, widespread road closures, and yes, even the possibility of some school closures... So stay safe, and my advise to you is to stay inside tonight...

Part 2:

So what have we had today... Well currently we have picked up already around 2 out of the 6 or 8 inches of rain in the forecast... So I'm sure a lot of you are thinking... Only 2?!?!?! Yes, only two... We may have an additional 4-6 inches of rain before all is done... I know already a couple local roads have been closed due to flooding, and i expect more to be closed as the night progresses... Now i do think that saguatuck island and the coastal Westport areas, have a good chance of being evacuated sometime later tonight or tomorrow morning... Just driving around in my general area i can see that there are many flooded properties and streets already, but i haven't yet seen closer to the coast and along the river where I'm sure it's much worse... Now, this is only the first of our problems... So, the trees are very loose due to the 13th and 14th storm still, plus the heavy rain today, and now we have to worry about more wind... Yes!!!! Tonight i think we will have wind gusts close to 50 mph and a heavy wind driven rain which will cause the following...

1. More Road closures due to flooding and downed trees...
2. (the worst of them all)... Widespread Power outages and downed lines...
3. The slim chance of school closings!!!!
4. Evacuations along the coastal areas...
5. More housing damage...

So... I am sure you all saw number 3... Yes, there is that chance for no school tomorrow... There are already some small hints of this happening... Greenwich CT today cancelled all after school activities... Now I'm currently putting a 25% chance of no school tomorrow, but when it comes to predicting school closings when there is no snow, it's very hard... So we will see... That is it for now... Have a great day, and remember to be safe...

Last cold shot of the season... Another potentially crippling storm... Warm, warm, and more warmth... Still snow????....

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Final cold shot of the season...
Part 2: WARNING: Big storm on the way...
Part 3: Warm weather coming quickly... Spring is really here...
Part 4: SNOW????... Still????...
Part 5: Important Westport Weather Update...

Part 1:

Well That was it... the cold shot is pretty much done now... We actually actually had a few record setting lows across portions of the interior Northeast and some of the higher elevations... I even had reports of temps into the lower 20's in NYC, Philly, and even toward DC... and as you made your way to the northern suburbs there were teens popping up everywhere... Most of you were freezing yesterday and today even though highs in the 40s aren't really that cold, it just feels that way due to the 70 degree weather we all got used to... Luckily, this little cold streak is not going to last for long and by tomorrow we'll be back in the 50's... That's it for now... Enjoy your last shot of winter!!!!

Part 2:

Well unfortunatley, it seems we have another monster storm on the way... And what really scares me is that it resembles the weekend storm that hit a couple weeks ago which left UN real damage to the area... I think though, the only difference here is that instead of the wind being the main factor like last time, it will be the rain... Although there will be some strong winds, especially along the coast... If it's not raining by you already, it will be by the morning and probably be quite heavy at times... This will be a very long storm with the heavy rain starting tonight, and not stopping until Tuesday!!!! Flood watches and coastal advisories are posted all over the place... Now what exactly is going on to cause all of this? Well a low pressure is cutting across the WV area and is weakening quickly... What its doing is transferring all its energy to a second low which is going to develop just of the coast of south Carolina... It is not going to feel like two separate storms though, even though it really is... It's just going to be non stop rain and wind, although the wind will pick up with the second low... So the second Low will quickly strengthen and move up the coast and probably make a landfall somewhere in southern NJ... That's where the wind, rain, and damage will be the strongest... That's around early time on Tuesday around the morning hours... Then the storm will sit there for a little bit before moving back out to sea and quickly weakening... Total rainfalls will be from 3-6 inches and someone may get 8 inches of rain between NJ and CT... Winds are also likely to gust up to 50 mph in some areas... So it all narrows down to this... The worst of the storm will be Between Philly and Hartford... 6-8 inches is likely there, and again wind gusts up to 50 mph... This could certainly be a crippling storm, but it looks like by Wednesday things will finally begin to clear out... So take the warning, because again this may be a really bad storm...

Part 3:

Well after this cold shot, i think you'll all be happy to hear that by Thursday we may be back to 70 for a lot of people!!! And by the weekend, look for sun and temps in the mid 70s!!!! So i am officially announcing that Winter is over for real after Wednesday!!!! It will only get better from there... But what about before Wednesday????

Part 4:

Well if you live in DC, Philly, NYC, Boston, Portland, Syracuse, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and all the surrounding areas... then this does not apply to you... But The areas to the north and to the east of Burlington, may get one last shot... I'm talking about areas from Montpelier to Caribou where 3-6 inches are possible before the snow changes to rain later tomorrow... As you get into some of the mountains up to a foot of snow is possible...

Part 5:

Well i know what most of you are thinking... Here we go again!... And yes I'm thinking that too... What I'm hoping is this doesn't turn out the same way as last time, but there is that chance it might... Now the rain is currently starting as i continue to type, and won't stop until sometime on Wednesday... Once the rain starts it will almost instantly become heavy, and as you wake up tomorrow it is likely to be pouring... The wind will start out as calm but as the day wears on the first low will weaken and the second one will develop which will cause the wind to rapidly pick up... Once it does, gusts past 40 mph are likely and the heavy rain will continue and be at its worst sometime tomorrow night... Now since trees are already loose and winds will be strong again power outages may become very widespread again, and maybe, just maybe, we will need to talk about school issues... The main issue, other than the wind, will actually be the rain... Flooding is very likely and when the saugatuck river is at its highest, we're really going to be in trouble... Evacuations aren't out of the question for the really coastal areas... Well that's it for now... Be prepared for the worst...

Tweeks on yesterdays snow map... Another Storm after this one, with more cold air... The real spring not far away... Models show wild April ahead.....

Weather Forecast:

Part 1: Some changes on snow map
Part 2: Another storm to follow...
Part 3: More on how close the real spring is...
Part 4: Cold weather...
Part 5: Models show wild April in store...
Part 6: Westport Weather...
Part 7: Finally more photos and videos are ready...

Part 1:

Just a couple of tweaks to yesterdays snow map... Hope you enjoy...

You can see, there's not really going to be too much in the way of accumulation besides some of the higher elevations...

Part 2:

Well, it's going to be back to back storms... One today into tomorrow, and then another one Sunday into Monday... The Sunday into Monday one will be the worst of the two... It just looks like generally the storm will have more energy in it, and the same spots that are getting rain today and tomorrow, will get rain Sunday and Monday, just heavier and with wind... Areas that are seeing, or expected to see some kind of snow mixing in, will see snow mixing in Sunday and Monday, just heavier and with wind... This means we will have probably more problems, but not everything is clear at this time, so as always, we will keep you updated...

Part 3:

Well, talking about this cold weather and even snow, you must be wondering "Where is Spring?!?!?... Well officially it is spring, but it sure doesn't feel like it... Well i can tell you after these two storms come through, there is going to be a massive heat wave... Now it's not that it's going to be really hot, it's just that its going to be for a long period of time... So how warm are we talking... Well i wouldn't be surprised if once again, we got 70 degree weather and abundant sunshine... It's still far away, so keep it here for more...

Part 4:

Well, the cold air looks like it is going to have two last shots before spring is here for good... The first will be with the storm Today and tomorrow... Tonight, for most it will be raining with the exception of the areas on the snow map, it will still be warm for lows with lows in the lower 40's... From there though, it won't rise... It'll stay that way for all Friday with highs in the lower 40's... It will feel freezing outside, and you will probably be able to see your breathe again... Where it gets extremely cold is tomorrow night, which seems to be the last night of really really cold air for the rest of the season... Big cities will see mid 20s!!! And north and West of there, teens will be popping up!!!! Luckily, no moisture seems to be around tomorrow night, so no major snow!!!!

Part 5:

I just wanted to quickly say that the models were being weird today, mostly the 384 hr. model... It showed April 6 - 8 very cold and snowy in parts of the Northeast again!!! Nobody panic though, because honestly i believe this is wrong, and it will likely go away over the next couple of days... With that said, there still is a chance that around this time period, it at least get's cooler and below average, so something to watch...

Part 6:

Well a fairly nice day for the early half of today, but now it is really beginning to cloud up, with even some rain already... Once the sun goes down we will probably have a steady rain and into tonight, where temps will still be mild in the mid 40's... But where it gets interesting is tomorrow morning where temps will be plummeting quickly into the 30's and around freezing... Just enough cold air will be available so that we get snow mixing in with the rain tomorrow morning... Don't panic, because no real accumulation is expected... Temps will only get up to about 44 degrees tomorrow with clouds breaking up as the day wears on... You will need to really bundle up tomorrow night, because guess what?!?!? Temps will be in the mid and lower 20's!!!! Freezing!!!! The coldest in a while!!!! Luckily, Saturday, the temps rebound a little bit and will get into the upper 40's... Still chilly... Then the next shot of rain comes in Sunday where it looks we may have a heavy rain later that night and into Monday... The wind will really be strong with gusts up to 50 mph possible... We know that us westport people do not need any more wind... The possibility again for some wet snow mixing in is there for the end of the storm on Monday, but again nothing too big at this point... That's it for now... Check back soon for more updates!!!!

Part 7:

Yes finally more pictures and videos are available from the Weekend crippling storm for your viewing, so without further or do, here they are...

Snow Map is ready...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Snow map
Part 2: Westport Weather...

Part 1:

I've been looking at the models carefully all afternoon and have come to a conclusion of this snow map, which i think is fairly accurate...

If you can't read the map it's no big deal since i will be explaining it all in text as well... So, the models did end up going with the storm coming further north, meaning it will drag warmer air at the beginning and pulling colder air at the end (so a lot of mixing and changing over and rain) as apposed to taking a more southern track and having warm air (not too warm) quickly changing to some cold air (not very cold) which would mean more snow for areas further south... Anyways, now to the details... I think all the Big Cities will see some kind of frozen precip out of this, whether it's a couple wet snow flakes mixing in at the last hour of the storm, or a coating of snow... Now the suburbs to the North and to the West may see up to an inch of snow, and once you get into upstate NY territory, there is a possibility for all snow and possibly 3 inches of it... So we'll see by tomorrow just how accurate this is, but i can tell you that very chilly air will immediately follow before getting back into spring...

Part 2:

Well a nice day today with temps in the upper 50's and Sunshine with a strong breeze, cool breeze... Temps tonight will dip into the low 40's which is generally warm for this time of year... Tomorrow clouds will be on the increase, and by later in the afternoon tomorrow it may start to rain or drizzle... By time the sun goes down we could have a moderate rain coming down, but no flooding expected... This rain will rapidly drag down cool air from the north and force some of this rain to possibly mix in or change over to a period of wet snow in the last hour or two of the storms precip... Looking at the forecast, the last hour or two of the storm will likely take place around 10 or 11 AM Friday where we can't rule out the possibility of wet snow... Even though no accumulation is expected, a light coating can't be ruled out either... There still is a chance the cold air doesn't rush in fast enough and we get all rain, so keep that in mind as well... That's it for now... Get ready with your umbrellas, and keep your winter coats nearby...

Snowstorms? The real Spring is ahead... And, of course, your Westport Weather Update...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: SNOWSTORMS...
Part 2: Once the warm comes back, it is here to stay...
Part 3: Westport Weather...

Part 1:

WOW... Well i can't stress enough how much I've talked about this cold weather and even snow coming over the past couple of weeks and most of you thought it was pretty much crazy considering temps were in the 70's!!!! It was just yesterday when the public channels and websites started talking and forecasting this cold. For example, Accuweather.com said nothing about cold or snow two days ago and then yesterday headlines quickly went to, "don't give up on Winter yet in the Northeast" and, "snow in the Northeast". Weather.Com's 10 day forecast went cold and snowy too, and local northeastern channels followed... Now before you freak out, let's go over the details like the extent of this cold. Well you've noticed a cool down over the past several days from 70's to 50's and 60's... Not too bad, right? Last night and today it began raining, this is the rain that is going to at least start the cold, but not immediately... First it will clear out for everyone by late tomorrow and maybe even begin to clear for some from South to North... It will still be in the 50's and 60's so nothing bad yet... But the wind will pick up later tomorrow and make it feel more like the 40's... Then on Friday a storm passes to the southern end of the northeast... With the storm cool air is pulled from the north causing the possibility of snow on the northern edge of the precip... Now how far north that precip goes isn't very clear right now, but i can say the models have been shifting it further to the north... For now i can say that I-80 and 25-50 miles to the north is most likely to have the snow... So we shall watch that... Now after that storm, really cold air pours in the temps back to the lower 40's for the major cities and upper 30's to the north... Then we have what looks like a major system Monday into Wednesday which has the cold air stage set so... I think you can put two and two together and see that we have the potential for a major snowstorm early next week... But it is far too early to tell... However, after that storm the air with briefly become very cold, probably the coldest, before becoming closer to normal again... I will probably have a snow map tomorrow posted so that you can see where the snow is likely to hit on Friday... That's it for now... Check back soon for more on the potential for cold and snow...

Part 2:

Well, after the storm early next week it will briefly get very cold, and then turn back to average and the models are clear when they say 2-3 weeks from now spring will be here for good... Meaning i will say that after April 1st we will be completely in the clear for good; no more real snow or cold for the northeast!!!! So there's the good news for the day!!!! I know this was a short section but i thought it was important to know, especially after the cold and snowy section, that spring will return and is here to stay... That's it for now..

Part 3:

Hey everyone! Last night was a very wet one, and it turns out lots of people had there power out... My update late last night talked all about the power outage here and i now know it was actually in many spots around Westport... Believe it or not, i still do not know what caused it... It may have actually been UN weather related or a test, but i can't say that for sure... Anyways, onto the real weather... On and off showers will continue throughout the night and eventually come to an end right around midnight... Tomorrow morning will be very cloudy, but clearing quickly and windy, with winds gusting probably close to 40 mph at times... Thursday will be a very similar day, although the wind will be calming down... Believe it or not, by Friday we may have wet snow on our hands, but it is too soon to say for sure... All i can say is that it looks like we're going to have a cool down on the way for the area...

Winter will not go down without a fight, and finally others see it... Spring is finally in sight for good... Rain Rain go away...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Blog changed forever?
Part 2: WOW... Annoying Winter Comeback...
Part 3: Warm weather will be gone for a while...
Part 4: Rain, Rain, Rain, and more RAIN...
Part 5: Westport Weather Update...
Part 6: Problems

Part 1:

Well, i am debating on a new "project" type thing for the blog... If you have ever gone on Accuweather.com, or even Weather.com, and seen any of the bloggers there who actually record themselves doing the weather online which is A. Much easier, not only easier to understand, but it will only take 5 minutes rather then 2 hours typing this... B. It's much more neat and professional and would all around make it a better blog, in my opinion... Also, i would still type some things, but not nearly as many as i am currently doing... This is just an idea right now, that has be approved by a couple people and to find the equipment and everything would take time, money, and probably won't be the easiest of things to do... So we shall see, but i just wanted to run it by everyone! Now to the Weather...

Part 2:

Well, i don't even know what to say... For the past, maybe 3 or 4 weeks, i have been talking again and again about winter coming back... Meanwhile No one else, other than the models, said one thing... No one really believed me about this, which was understandable, and now it is going to happen for a pretty good given fact... And now, if you go onto Accuweather.com or Weather.com, there is plenty of talk about WINTER'S COMEBACK!!!! SO this will no doubt be the main focus on the blog today... So lets get to it... So storm thrashing the northeast now with some heavy rain and flooding will move on out of here by Wednesday morning, if not earlier... Once the rain stops, yes the sun may return, but nothing too exciting or warm since temperatures will be hovering just below 60, so rather cool, and a breeze as well... Now once the storm really gets on out of here, things get very interesting... The wind on Wednesday will last into Thursday, and what this really is, is cold air coming down from Canada, or i should say returning since its been such a long time... Temperatures for all the major cities and suburbs will go from 70's, last week, to 40's, this week!!!! This will make a brutal awakening for those of you who thought spring was here for sure... The worst of the days will most likely be on Friday of this week, and on Tuesday of next week... Not only that, but some of the models have been crazy with possible snowstorms for the northeast both of these days!!!! So this is obviously something to watch, because winter will not go down without a fight... If you would like to know more on this matter, i highly suggest you go to Accuweather.com where you can see all the history on the past late march early April monster snowstorms!!!! I know I'm not giving much detail right now on the storms, but as always, as time gets closer, i will be sure to give you the most detail as possible... That's it from here... For now i suggest you hold your gardening tools, get your umbrellas, and keep your winter coat near by...

Part 3:

Well most of the models are on board for the winter comeback train, at least into the latter part of next week... If not, longer!!!! But i can promise you, the long range models, are showing Spring back and here to stay for good... I can also tell you, this will very likely be the last little winter pattern, for the real spring is nearby... That's it for now... Keep here for more updates...

Part 4:

Well the rain is here, and here to stay for at least the next 24 hours for most people... The worst of the rain is going on Right now and will continue through the night and even into parts of the morning hours for many... In fact, don't be surprised if you get a couple of thunderstorms, or even some hail... The rain will only be strengthening in size and intensity through the night so flooding will become more and more likely... Total rainfall amounts will range from 1-3 inches... Another problem, which is occurring here, is the loosened trees from the last crippling storm plus the flooding from this storm is making for even more downed trees and flooding which will become a major problem once again for localized locations... Well that's it for now... Check back soon for more info...

Part 5:

Westport in the dark yet again... An unlikely power outage has yet again struck the area with hundreds in the dark once again... The first half of this blog was done with power, and now this half is off my phone... Not only that, but virtually I have very limited info with what is going on... As of now I know all of Old Hill road and it's side roads have zero power, which is at least a couple hundred people... There may be more outages but I am not sure... Reports of fire trucks and sirens have also been heard throughout the old hill area... If you have any more info on what's going on feel free to give me an email... As for school tomorrow, I don't have nearly enough info to say what will happen... That's it for now... Check back soon for more... I may do a very late night update on what happening so check back...

P.S.: no photos today due to storm related problems and power issues... Sorry... Check again tomorrow

A beautiful week, but DO NOT get used to it... More rain on the way... Winter ever returning?... More Photos and videos from crippling storm...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Great week, what lies ahead is not so great...
Part 2: Floods to return...
Part 3: Winters coming back?
Part 4: Westport Weather...

-Sorry that i haven't blogged once for the past 2 days, more computer trouble, which i hope are fixed by Wednesday, but i make no promises!

Part 1:

Well I'm sure you've all enjoyed the temperatures that were ranging from 65 degrees to the extreme interior Northeast, to almost 80 degrees toward the southern end of of the Northeast... Today, you've probably already felt, it is noticeably cooler but still magnificent, with nothing but sunshine... You've probably also noticed the wind has picked as well... Well these are signs that a cold front is nearing the area, but its much more complicated then that... You see, the cold front which is currently in the mid sections of our country is very long extending from far up north, all the way through TX... In fact, believe it or not, Dallas TX is getting snow out of this!!!! Maybe as much as an inch or two... Anyway, the front will move rather rapidly across the country and as it does so, it will continue to grow until it splits into two pieces... The northern half of the front will quickly retreat back to the north, and the southern half will curl up into a ball shape and diminish off to the south, but will manage to make it all the way to parts of the Appalachian mountains and even parts of NJ's higher elevations to give some really, really cold rain, and possibly some very wet snow!!!! This will all take place tomorrow, as temperatures rapidly drop and clouds increase late tonight, with rain when you wake up or shortly after... For much of the northeast highs will only be in the mid and upper 50's with some 60's to the southern end of the Northeast, and some upper 40's to the Northern edge of the northeast... Once the "messed up front" comes through temperatures will remain in the 50's until an even colder shot of air comes in around the 24th or on Wednesday where Lot's of people may be back into the 40's, and even some lower 40's may be popping up in the northern suburbs of the Big Cities!!!! Then we have to watch a storm around the 28th, which may bring us, Yes some wintry weather and even colder air... But its too far in the future to say exactly what will happen, so for now, it will just be something to watch...

Part 2:

Well as mentioned in part 1, it will be quite rainy tomorrow for most of you, and into parts of Tuesday... In fact it seems to start late tonight, for D.C., and Baltimore, it will probably have already started raining by 9 or 10 PM... In and around Philly the rain will start closer to Midnight, and in and around NYC, Hartford, expect it to be raining by 1 or 2 AM and In Boston it will start raining by 3 or 4 AM... The rain will start on the lighter side, but will become noticeably heavier as the day wears on... Most areas in the Northeast will have a steady rain by noon, and a fairly heavy rain by 2 or 3 PM... The rain will continue at a steady rate throughout the night with totals approaching around an 1.5 inches to 2 inches... The one aspect that I am UN sure of is the wind... It seems tomorrow winds will be fairly calm, between the 5-10 mph range... On Tuesday is when the winds may pick up, but keep in mind, it will be no where near the wind that hit us last weekend, winds will probably be in the 10-20 mph range... Now I-80 and south the rain will probably just turn into some showers on Tuesday... North, some AM moderate to heavy rain changing to just some showers in the afternoon, with the exception of the interior areas... So get the umbrella ready, because it will be a wet one...

Part 3:

Well if you follow this blog, you know just how much we have been talking about a "winter comeback" these past weeks... So is Winter ever coming back? After all, it is officially spring so we're in the clear, right? Well technically it is spring, but that doesn't mean we can't have wintry weather... In fact, if you really follow this blog, you should know we've been talking about the 21st for a long time... Today is when the temperatures finally start to lower back down... You probably noticed it got cooler today, and it will get even colder tomorrow, and it pretty much looks like the long range forecast points to temperatures remaining in the 40's and 50's for weeks to come... The models still are showing more possibility's for snow, and that is what we are really going to watch for over the next couple of weeks... But for now, hold your gardening tools, because it looks like, yes, winter may make its return...

Part 4:

Good evening to everyone in Westport!!!! We had another really nice day, with temperatures right around 65 degrees, and all sunshine... Don't get used to it though, because by tomorrow it will be rainy and chilly with temperatures only around 60, which isn't too bad, and some pockets of heavy rain toward the late morning and afternoon hours... The rain should begin after midnight tonight, and continue through the day tomorrow and end by later in the afternoon Tuesday with the worst of the storm probably being Tomorrow evening into the overnight hours... Wind shouldn't be much of a problem until Later Tuesday and into Wednesday where wind gusts could get up to 40 mph, and I'm sure we've all had enough of wind! Speaking of which, if we look back a week ago today, our town was quite a mess!!!! Even today, we still have branches down everywhere, and even some trees still being cleared!!!! Anyway, enough about last week... Tuesday expect the wind to make temperatures feel more like the mid 40's, which compared to last weeks and the weekends weather, it'll feel freezing!!!! Seems like late this week and into much of next week temperatures will remain chilly, and models still point to some wintry weather in the future so we shall see... That's it for now... Keep it here for more on the wild weather...

-Sorry there are no pictures today, but i will continue to upload more... If you haven't already seen the photos and videos from last weekends crippling storm, or you would like to see them again, just go back to the last blog post!

I guess i just have to give up... What ever happened to "the 17th storm"????.... Another crippling storm?... And yes, finally the pictures...

Part 1: My exaggeration over winter... too much?
Part 2: What ever happened to my major 17th snowstorm?
Part 3: Another crippling storm?
Part 4: Spring fever!!!!....
Part 5: Westport Weather...
Part 6: The Pictures from a very destructive weekend storm...

Part 1:

Well.... You may have noticed i went a little crazy the other day over "winters comeback"... Was it too much? Well I'll tell you one thing for sure, the models are changing constantly, and that is something that you should certainly know! What was being shown this past week, and what is being shown today, are two very different solutions... Yesterday the models showed a major cold front coming through, with highs back into the 30's and 40's for the Northeast... It showed just a basic straight line of cold air dipping fairly far south and moving eastward at a quick rate... Now today what happened, which is totally understandable, is that the cold air took a dive so far south before coming east, the cold front actually ended up splitting so that there was a pocket of cold air down to the south, cool air in between, and cold air again well north... Then it showed all of this moving east into our neck of the woods and joining back together before moving off the coast, and giving us 2-3 days of "cold air" and then after that anywhere from 1-2 weeks of "cool air"... Now what in my case defines "cool" and "cold"? Well "cool" meaning temperatures in the mid 40's to mid 50's, and "cold" meaning temperatures in the upper 30's to around 43 or 44 degrees... So let's get into even more detail with this... It seems Monday and Tuesday will be the nastiest of the week, but i don't want to get into how bad it may be just yet (for more on this, go to Part 3). The storm will pass through and again, there will be a pocket of colder air south of NYC and Philadelphia where at this point it seems some kind of frozen precipitation could fall. To the north of this pocket it will be a cool chilly rain with temperatures rapidly dropping throughout most of Monday. By time we get to Tuesday, areas south of I-80 will likely see upper 40's and some lower 50's, and north of I-80 will generally be in the 40's... Now my words are by all means not set in stone... The models may go back to a colder solution, or may show no cold air at all with this... As of now, neither of these solutions are very likely. So Monday, Tuesday, and even Wednesday will feel cold for a lot of you, especially with a lot of wind and clouds around. No one has yet shown any sign of snow on the back of this storm, but the models are consistently showing it. Now chances stand as shown here for the following cities to get some kind of winter precipitation on the back side of this storm late Tuesday. DC: 25%, Baltimore: 30%, Pittsburgh: 65%, Buffalo: 50%, Albany: 55%, Philadelphia: 40%, NYC: 50%, Hartford: 55%, Boston: 45%, Portland: 45%, Caribou: 70%... So you can see the likely hood of all of these cities aren't far from 50% which shows how much uncertainty there is at this point. Bottom line is that there will be a shot of some kind of cold air coming, whether or not it is really cold or not very cold there is some cold coming... Also the likely hood of any snow at this point is fairly uncertain... Lastly, i hate to brake it to myself and all the snow lovers, but i believe this may be the very last chance of snow or cold for this very crazy winter of 2010...

Part 2:

Well i was asked a question today, and i was very frustrated with it, because i couldn't even answer it on the spot and i partially forgot about it... And that question is, "WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THIS BIG 17TH STORM?!?!" ... Well i did my research, and looked back at all the models, to find that there were two solutions to what happened... One solution is that this giant 13th mini hurricane was really the 17th storm and didn't pack enough cold air with it... And the other is that the 13th storm wasn't really the 17th storm, and it was just so powerful that it pretty much blocked it out completely... Now honestly, both these answers could be completely wrong, but that's all I've got... So there you have it!!!!

Part 3:

Now, i talked quite a bit about this cold front coming through bring some kind of rain with it, but what i didn't talk about was how much rain, and how much wind, and how bad it is going to be... And the big question, is it going to be anywhere close to the weekend mini hurricane? Well for now this is not going to be at all like the weekend mini hurricane... The only thing is that the models have been consistently showing the storm getting stronger just before leaving the coast... It also has a very similar form to the last storm, a low cutting down and through the country, and then heading east and really bombing out... So just keep a heads up for this storm, since it's far too early to tell what exactly is going to happen... I think that i may post a storm map of what may happen Friday or Sunday... That's it for now!!!! keep it here for the latest updates...

Part 4:

Spring fever!!!! Two words that really describe these past couple of days and the next couple of days to come!!!! Today areas south of I-80 actually reached 70+!!!! And areas north of I-80 were either close to 70 or in the mid 60's!!!! Very nice weather, once because of the warmth, two because of sun, and three because no real wind!!! From here it will only get warmer!!!! Tomorrow most areas south of VT, NH, and ME will probably hit 70 or more and by Saturday the temperatures will probably reach around 70 for the whole northeast, and south of I-80 yes, may get close to 80!!!!!!! Record breaking high temperatures are very likely!!!! That's it from here... Enjoy this warm weather...

Part 5:

Yes, it is time for the Westport Weather!!!! And after a very rough early half of the week, hopefully most of you are at least starting to get back to normal... I know my house lost power again today because they had to move a tree, and i know some house who just don't have power since Saturday!!!! Finally we had ALL WESTPORT PUBLIC SCHOOL OPEN today, meanwhile Greenwich decided to close school for the rest of the week! Enough about the storm, which by the way i will probably talk about for weeks to come!, let's get to the weather forecast!... Today we actually hit 70!!!! The first time of the year!!!! Tomorrow i would not be surprised if we hit 73!!!! And by Saturday i will actually use the word HOT, with temperatures reaching 75 degrees!!! Enjoy it while you can because by Sunday temperatures with drop a good 10 degrees back to 65!!! And by Monday we may have ANOTHER severe rain/wind storm which will last into Tuesday... We must pray for NO MORE STORMS like our recent weekend one!!! If it is anywhere close to the weekend storm, we may find more school problems!!!! Well that's it for now, after Sunday don't expect temperatures to be too warm!!!! Keep it tune here, and enjoy the warm weather while you can!!!!

Part 6:

Finally we I have the scary, destructive, and all around crazy photos and videos from the storm!!!! Hope you enjoy...
(all pictures were taken in Westport, CT)

Believe it or not that is me behind those massive roots!!!

WINTER IS NOT OVER... Damage from Northeast storm is unbelievable... Beautiful this week... Pictures and videos almost ready...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Publishing problems again from storm...
Part 2: WARNING: Winter Is Not Over!!!! (Must see)
Part 3: Damage from Northeast storm is crazy
Part 4: Beautiful week unfolding...
Part 5: Another Crazy WESTPORT WEATHER UPDATE... (must see)

Part 1:

Once again i am sorry that i was not able to update until 10:00 PM!!!! The generator actually went out today because it is not meant to run that amount of time... Believe it or not, we actually got our power back today at around 8:00 PM!!!! So blogging shouldn't really be a big problem anymore, but my computer is actually broken so i have to use someone else's which may be another problem... But enough about my issues, lets get to the weather...

Part 2:

This is a warning to everyone in the country who has had a harsh winter... I have come to a decision that winter is 100% not over... Do not think that spring is here!!!! It is a mistake!!!! This is just the warm up i have been talking about for the past 2 weeks... It will not last... So let's get to the details... The storm will take place beginning on the 21st for areas like cleveland, pittsburgh, western virginia, and that general area... It will be a fairly thin band of heavy rain with a brief period of moderate or heavy snow on the back side... This moisture will make its way to the east, and will be affecting the big cities by the 22nd... The moisture will be expanding as it moves eastward and there may be wind along with is as well, which is NOT good news at all for the hard hit areas from the recent weekend storm. Trust me though when i say this will be no where near as bad as the weekend storm! It looks like the worst of any of the snow will be back toward Detroit and Chicago, and will only be for a brief time with little if any accumulations... East of there it look to be a very close call with the rain/snow line right on top of the heavy precipitation... It looks like it will be all heavy rain for the big cities and then flurries or a brief snow shower on the back side of the storm... It looks like a longer period of snow flurries and showers are more likely as you head westward into PA, WV, TN mountains, and out toward Ohio... Behind it is where things get interesting... By the night of the 22nd it looks like everyone will be clear since this is a very quick moving system... Very cold air will follow this storm and lows for even the big cities and south will be well below freezing that night with frost and freezes likely... Meanwhile a high pressure system is sitting over southern TX and a low or blob of moisture is beginning to develop over FL where heavy rains and wind will take place... The cold air will only get colder with hight in the mid and lower 40s for DC and Baltimore while low 40's and maybe some upper 30's will take place over Philadelphia, NYC, Hartford, and Boston... North and west of there mid 30's are likely with air continuing to get colder... This blob of moisture will at least make an attempt to develop into something and move north... As of now the storm will move out to see, but looks like it will give a clip of some very heavy wet snow to the Carolinas!!!! Yes, THE CAROLINAS!!!! Currently you are seeing 70s down there... Don't be fooled! Now the models show the storm will make a very near miss, so don't be surprised if we have a new storm on our hands around the 23 for the Northeast... After that a series of storms will come through and the temperatures will rise and lower again and again with these storms... For the big cities it looks like each of these storms has a chance for some snow but again we may begin to find a storm in particular... I will say now, I think we may have a cold and possibly wintry beginning to April which is not at all normal...

Part 3:

I cannot begin to tell you just how crazy the damage still is... Still CT has most of its power out along the coast... Trees are still down 3 days after the storm on roads!!!! Power lines are still on roads and houses are damaged... The cost of the whole storm will likely cost up to 1 million dollars in damage... Power crews have been called down from NH to areas in the Tri-State area... Winds reported of up to 78 mph and rainfall actually reached 8 inches for some across CT... I would say without a doubt that CT got the worst damage out of this storm, and the press still doesn't care... I was listening to some of the news channels today and they acted like CT wasn't even on the map!!!! Well it is, and i'll tell you this storm changed it forever, causing the death now of at least 5 people... I will tell you it's still a really scary sight out here with fire trucks and ambulances, as well as other emergency vehicles out and around here all the time... It is also a nice sight though to see everyone working together as a community in a time of need...

Part 4:

I just briefly wanted to talk about this week and how nice the weather will finally be!!!!.... Today a lot of you reached 60 and areas to the north, who got actually some snow out of the last storm, reached 50... it will only get warmer later this week with the warmest day probably being on Thursday where DC and Baltimore may reach 70, Philadelphia, NYC, Hartford, and Boston will probably be in the Mid 60s and inland of there will probably be anywhere from 60 (in the higher elevations) to 70 (in the valleys, and far from water). That's it from here, enjoy your lovely week...

Part 5:

I don't have much to say other than WOW, which has been the same word i've used for the past 3 days... FOR THE THIRD day in arrow, yes 3, the WESTPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED!!!! I honestly think this is because at least one of the schools has no power... I am almost sure though that we will have school on Thursday unless something crazy were to happen, which is not out of the question considering what's been going on lately... The next couple of days will be gorgeous with temperatures reaching the mid and upper 60s by Thursday... The power has finally gone on here, but as you know, Westport is still way out of wack... The last time i checked, still more than 1/3 of Westport has no power, which is a lot of people... Actually, it's over 4,000 costumers... Well that's it for now... Good luck cleaning up...

Note: I should have the photos and videos of the Aftermath from the storm by sometime tomorrow!!!!

Update on monster storm...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: update on storm...
Part 2: westport weather...

Part 1:

well clean up is still under way, but the continued rain and wind is not helping at all. Still many without power and will likely stay that way until potententially Friday for some... The hardest hit area seems to be extreme southern New England (coastal CT), Long island, and coastal NJ where winds reached 78 mph (hurricane force) and rains were up to 7 inches!!!! Roads are still under water, but that biggest story I said would be the downed trees... Trees caused the death of at least 5 people, knocked out electricity, and caused unreal damage to houses, buildings, and properties... Since my town was one of the hardest hit, you can expect photos and videos sometime this week... I also wanted mention some schools, including mine, are closed for now the second day and some may be closed Wednesday as well... As for the up coming weather from this storm you can expect showers of different rates tonight... Some heavy, some light... That will come to an end from west to east by 8 or 9 AM tommorow morning... Expect sunshine by 3 or 4 PM tommorow for most areas...Also, believe it or not, don't be surprised if you have some wet snowflakes mixing in later tonight...

Part 2:

Well the clean up goes on and yes... ALL WESTPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED!!!!... This is the first time in a while that westport public schools have been closed two days in arrow... And not even due to snow!!!! Lots of people can't take this storms after math and hundreds have moved to hotels like the Westport inn... The westport inn is now completely booked and so are many other hotels around fairfield county due to the storm... People have actually gone as far as the city!!!!.... Currently the chance of no school on Wednesday is 35%... as for Thurday it is 15% and Friday it's 5%... You can see the after math of this storm is just crazy, and as mentioned in part 1, i will have video of all of Westport and the damage plus photos some time this week... Right now it's very hard to access internet and im lucky i have a generator, otherwise i would not be blogging at all... Still, i cannot get most models so i'm basically looking at radar and websites for my forecast... For Westport, They currently say by 8 PM Wednesday night there will be power on for everyone... My forecast is that some people won't have electricity until 12 PM on Thursday... The damage will likely cost hundreds of millions of dollars, according to our first select man... I think it will take until at least this weekend until all the damage is cleared... If you drive down Old Hill Road that is where you'll find some of the worst damage... Also any of the side roads of Old Hill will probably have bad damage as well with trees down just about everywhere... As for how the weather goes for the rest of today and tomorrow it will look like this... Tonight expect showers, some moderate, with a lot of clouds around... Don't be surprised if we still see wind gusts to 35 mph... By tomorrow the showers will end completely by 6 or 7 AM, and by noon don't be surprised to see some blue skys with temps around 60!!!! Perfect for a clean up day!!!! That's it for now, i will keep you updated...

-Scott Pecoriello

STORM LIKE NEVER SEEN BEFORE... Finally we all turn to the same page... Sunny and warm weather coming...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: What is going on?!?!...
Part 2: STORM WAS REALLY MORE LIKE A TROPICAL STORM...
Part 3: Finally we all turn to the same cold page...
Part 4: Warm and sunny week ahead...
Part 5: Westport Weather...

Part 1:

Well the weather is so bad here in Westport, CT that i have had no power for about 3 days now and the internet is down, so i am having lots of trouble blogging... I apologize for not blogging once yesterday!!!! It seems this pattern of having so much trouble blogging will continue for at least the next couple of days!!!! So bear with me here!!!!.... Now to the latest on the weather!!!!...

Part 2:

I cannot even describe words for this storm!!!! Kennedy airport picked up 75 mph winds... Staten island has already picked up 6.75 inches of rain... More than 1 million are without power... Trees are down everywhere... at least 4 people are dead after this horrible storm... Flooding still remains a problem... And the storm still has more left in it!!!! Yes, this storm is not over... Although it probably won't be as bad as the past couple of days south of Boston, it will be bad... Boston you will still see a lot of flooding rains and strong winds today, as well as to your North and West!!!! South of there do not think you are of the hook!!!! This storm is just sitting in that perfect position... So expect gusts at least up to 40 mph with additional rainfall of anywhere from 0.5 inches to 1.5 inches before all is set and done... Again, this is south of Boston... Boston and north an additional 1.5 to 3 inches of rain is possible... More trees to fall and power outages are expected too... Now, even though i am going to talk all about this in Part 5, i would like to just take time to talk about WESTPORT, CT... This was one of the hardest hit places!!!! I could not even get to my house yesterday... Fire trucks and emergency vehicles are just about everywhere with trees down with fire on them across just about every single road... Also more than 60% of Westports power is gone, and they think it could be up to a week before the power is back on!!!! Wires are lieing across streets, roads are still flooding, winds are still gusting, they can't even attempt to put the power back on... I heard yesterday they are actually calling in vehicles from NH to help with the whole situation!!!! All Westport Public Schools are closed, and that was called at around 2:00 PM yesterday!!!! This is the first time that Westport Schools have been closed to due weather other than snow!!!! Schools may be closed again tomorrow and maybe more time than that... For more on Westport weather you can of course always go to part 5... Now back to the northeast... It seems there will be scattered downpours south and west of boston today... But there is a line of rain and wind the is around Providence, and it is moving quickly to the west... This will bring more steady and heavy rains and winds to the western Northeast region later today... So i can tell you now that no one is in the clear for this storm... Now where it gets really interesting is tonight where we may have snow mixing in!!!! This will be to the north of I-95, but still pretty weird stuff going on... That's it for now, expect more updates coming as soon as possible!!!!...

Part 3:

Finally, after way too long, we all turn to the same page... Accuweather.com, Weather.com and others finally turn to the same page, meaning they all see the cold weather on its way... But it really did take too long... It looks like there will be a storm on the 21st that will be rainy and windy and cold... On the back side of this storm there will be really cold weather with rain changing to snow... This will be from the interior Northeast all the way to the Big cities... How much snow and how cold remains uncertain at this time... After that it look to stay cold for a good period of time before we have to watch some kind of storm around the 26th... That's it for now... This will become our main focus as the week continues...

Part 4:

I think most of you will be very happy to know that this week will be very sunny and very warm!!!! Expect temperatures to be around or just below 60 degrees and as the week wears on, someone will probably hit 70 south of NYC and Philly... A lot of folks will see mid 60's, and the rest of you (Upstate NY, VT, NH, ME, MA) Will probably see upper 50's and lower 60's... Sun will is also likely to accompany this warm weather and after tomorrow the wind should die down as well... That's it for now... Enjoy your warm and sunny week...

Part 5:

WOW!!!! Getting home yesterday was a real obsticle course... Trees down every 10 or so feet, trees on fire, trees on cars, and even trees on houses... I also have seen rivers over flowing, trees on cars, and even trees on houses... It's been crazy here and Wesptort was definitely one of the hardest hit places... It is so bad here that they ended up closing our public schools... I will give it a 40% chance that we do not have school tomorrow, but that could change... Now lets get to the forecast... Right now it is probably cloudy with maybe some sprinkles... Expect a steady rain to fall later today with winds picking back up... Sorry for the rush... More computer problems... That's it for now...

Biggest Storm I've ever seen... Winter is coming back for sure.... Plus a Westport Forecast that is a must see...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Very Sorry...
Part 2: Wizard of Oz Storm!!!!....
Parr 3: 1 week left of winter!!!! Or is it?
Part 4: Westport Weather(A MUST SEE!!!!)

Part 1: Well first off I would like to apologize for not updating at all yesterday, and then updating late today... Unfortunately I'm very busy and Not at home so that's the first problem... Secondly my computer, once again, is not working so I have to blog off my phone which is not easy... So, sorry for any typo's that may appear, and I will try to update more often... Enough about my problems though, so let's get to it!!!!

Part 2: Although I am blogging again it doesn't mean I have that much info... I can't even check outside to see this monster storm!!!! Right now I'm in PA so the worst of the storm is to the east... Never the less it's been raining off and on throughout the day, and now it's a steady rain... Also, winds are gusting up to 35 mph even this far from the coast!!!! Now from what I've heard and from some of the weather sites and news, it is like the wizard of oz near the coast from southern NJ to Southern ME.... Meaning winds gusting to 60, rain coming down at an unreal rate, trees down all over the place, damage to properties, and flooding like crazy (especially along the coast!)... This storm has pretty much targeted my hometown, and I'm not there!!!! So as you may have guessed, this is driving me crazy!!!! I-95, this is a warning if you haven't already been warned by the hundreds of warnings and advisories!!!! Stay inside!!!! Even east of I-95 into PA there is still going to be flooding, especially those with snow cover... Expect 1-2 inches of rain well inland... Places like Pittsburgh, buffalo, and toward Burlington... If you are just to the east of the big cities 2-4 inches of rain is possible... These are areas like central and eastern PA, Albany, and Concord... Now for the Big Cities 5+ inches of rain is likely!!!! Lots of flooding rains, gusty winds, and damage is likely around these areas... In fact, I would not be surprised if the coastal suburbs of these cities basically shut down.... Stay tuned here for more on this wizard of oz storm...

Part 3: Yes, only 1 week left of winter!!!! And it certainly feels like it since the past week has been in the 50's for most... Well yes technically there are only 7 days left of winter, but in reality it seems there is now a really good chance that it gets cooler after the 21st... What appears to happen is we get a storm, clipper system, cold front sort of storm that pushes some really cool air southward. And if the models are right it may actually get very cold, especially toward the Midwest... This storm may actually give some areas a period of wet snow before all is set and done... With this cold air set in place one has to wonder about any upcoming storms... It seems around the 23 through 25 we may have a storm in the form of SNOW on nour hands!!!! But of course that's a long way out... But for now I can say that it looks like winter will and pleasant while spring may bring some very interesting weather...

Part 4: WOW!!!! Westport is being slammed by this storm, and I'm sure you know better then I about what's going on... For more on what's happened I highly suggest you go to www.westportnow.com... It looks like we have one final band of moderate to heavy rains with gusty winds; after that there will be a lot of left over showers and wind, but not nearly as bad... Later this week and into the early half of next week it will be outstanding weather with complete sunshine and temperatures around or just below 60!!!! I can tell now that after the 21st it will be getting, what looks to be, dramatically colder and yes maybe, just maybe the word snow will come back In out forecast!!! For now, stay inside, but the rain looks to end by Tuesday!!!! And also enjoy that great weather that will occur later this week and Into part of the next!!!!...

Part 3:

Thursday, March 11, 2010

The most frustrating time of the year... Floods get worse... More news on warm weather... And 2010 Hurricane season...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Too Frustrating...
Part 2: Flooding weather is approaching...
Part 3: Warmth Continues...
Part 4: Hurricane Season 2010 (Must See)
Part 5: Westport Weather...

Part 1:

It has been getting extremely frustrating!!!! Before i go any further i just want to say that i respect and enjoy Accuweather.com, and I'm a major fan... But... They really need to get there act together to end the winter year... What i mean by that is, One day they're talking about snowstorms and then all of a sudden they go right to spring... No transition!!!! In the last week the word winter or snow has not appeared once on Accuweather.com, Meanwhile i keep seeing cold and snow on the models!!!! Again and Again the models continue to print out snow in the forecast or at least cold weather from the 17th and after... Now if you go on weather.com for your local town, and you live in the northeast, you will probably see the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th showing nice warm and sunny weather... Meanwhile the models are showing nasty cold and even some snowy weather for the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and even past that! So now i'm going to do the only thing there is left to do... And that is to give my prediction... My prediction consists of a couple things... The models, Accuweather.com, Weather.com, My knowledge, and finally my gut feeling... So here it is... I am going to list 1 city and do a the long range forecast for the city... This will be the first time i do anything like this, and if it works out, i may continue to do so!!!!....

NYC:
Friday : PM rain showers... High:49 Low: 44
Saturday : Rain... Heavy at times... Nasty day....Very windy... High:52 Low:47
Sunday : Rain... Heavy in the Morning; becoming lighter... High: 50 Low: 40

Monday : Drying out... High: 45 Low: 33
Tuesday : Cloudy... High: 48 Low: 36
Wednesday: Some rain/wet snow... High: 46 Low: 34
Thursday : Drying out... High: 44 Low: 32
Friday : Sunny... High 45 Low: 32

Part 2:

Yes the flooding rain is getting closer and closer... I think that Saturday will be the worst of this whole storm with strong gusty winds, heavy rains, and lots of coastal and even inland flooding... Any snowfall still on the ground will likely disappear completely with this rain and will also likely contribute to the flooding... We actually have already had some rain today across the area and it is currently raining in places Boston where right now we actually have some heavier rain especially to the north and west of town... Its raining across mid and southern sections of VT and NH as well... Now with the flooding rains expect anywhere from 3-5 inches of rain possible with localized 6 inches the further south you go!!!! That's your flood update... Again, the rain will be starting later tomorrow for most and continue into most of Monday with the worst being Saturday and even early Sunday doesn't look great, but the winds will calm down...

Part 3:

Yes, the warmth continues across the area today with a lot of mid 50's showing up on the map... You probably noticed though that it felt much colder and that was due to the cloud cover... The temperatures will actually cool down a bit as we get into tomorrow and Saturday where temps will be in the upper and mid 40's for a lot of people... Then the temperatures will gradually rise again until around the 17th where there maybe a dramatic drop in the temps with some snow possibly... Something we will have to keep our eye on over the next few days... That's it from here... Enjoy the weather!

Part 4:

YES!!! It is time for my second favorite thing in weather... Hurricane Season 2010!!!! You have probably heard it will be a much more active season this year, but you have not heard my forecast...

Total Storms : 14
Hurricanes : 6
Tropical Storms : 8
Total Landfalls : 8
Hurricane Landfalls : 4
Tropical Storm Landfalls : 5
Major Hurricanes : 4
Major Hurricane Landfalls: 2

Part 5:

A good afternoon to everyone in Westport! It going to be a quick Update! OK, so today we hit about 52 degrees but it was very cloudy so it felt more like the mid and upper 40's... Tomorrow will be more of the same with some rain showers starting around 4 or 5 PM... Saturday will be horrible! Expect Colder Conditions with temps back into the upper 40's and lots of strong wind... It probably going feel like the upper 30's... This will be probably the worst day out of the next couple of weeks depending on how things go... The rain will lighten up for Sunday and Monday... By Later Next week i still expect a cool down and the possibility for snow is not gone...

Quick Update on Rain and Winter...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Rain...
Part 2: Winter Update...
(Everything will be very short... For More info go back to yesterdays blog!!!!)

Part 1:

Yes the rain is on the way and it will be heavy with winds... Flooding is likely with this as well as gusty winds and a lot of snow melt... This will be a big part of Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday... Sorry for such a short Update!!!!

Part 2:

Well the models i have to say are slightly backing off with the idea of winter really coming back... After all there are only 10 days left of Winter... We still might find this rainstorm end as a period of wet snow in some places... Actually the models are suggesting that there is going to be a pocket of cold air forming that is going to be about one hundred or so miles away from the actual main cold air area... In this pocket there is likely to be some left over moisture from the storm that gave us so much rain, so that pocket may have a left over period of very wet snow... At this point i cannot say who or how much or even if it's definitely going to snow... For now all i can say is this is something we will have to watch for over the next couple of days... Again, sorry for such a quick update...

Models go crazy... Most are forgetting it is still Winter!!!! Flooding rains get closer... Warmth continues, but for how long?...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Warmth Continues...
Part 2: 11 days left of winter... Plus the 17th storm!!!!... (must see)
Part 3: Models are wacky!!!!
Part 4: Rainstorms and flooding on the way...
Part 5: Winter to Spring... Blog changes...
Part 6: Westport Weather

Part 1:

Well the warmth continues... Today areas North of I-80 were back up into the Upper 40's and 50's and South of I-80 Mid and Upper 50's warmed most of the area... So more of the usual and I'm sure you are all getting used to the warmth by now... Well i can tell you it is going to very slowly get cooler and cooler... And by Monday we could be talking about most areas getting back into the 40's... Still not shivering cold, just a bit annoying... Sadly the latest models all point to a bit of a dramatic cool down after Monday... Now this is where it gets confusing... Accuweather and Weather.com all point to the opposite of the models (for more on the models fight against Accuweather and Weather.com look in part 3)... That's it for now on the warmth... More updates on the warmth as Spring approaches... Stay tuned for more!!!!...

Accuweather.com...

Part 2:

Believe it or not, only 11 days left of winter!!!! Right?... Well now is when it gets kind of complicated because we move into warmer weather, but we still get cold and snowy weather in spring... So that's exactly what this part is going to be about... Typically around this time of year we begin to find these wet and warm snowstorms... And now, looking at the GFS, we are finding signs of some wet snowstorms coming into our area... For the first time I'm going to talk about another section of the U.S. that isn't the Northeast... And that's the Midwest... It seems this is where these wet snowstorms are going to begin...

The models have been consistent with showing wet snowstorms lately in the Midwest, and some show snow and cold pretty far south (for more on the wacky models go to part 3)... Anyway there is one storm in particular that may even end up affecting the Northeast, and that's the 17th storm!!!! The storm that i have been talking about for weeks now!!!! But for the Midwest it will be more like the 13th and 14th snowstorm... Models are showing just some light wet snow for parts of the Midwest for a storm that will probably start out as rain for most of them... Now when the storm moves to the Northeast, we could find more wet snow... Also i should mention it will be more of a 16th storm than 17th... Right now it also looks like some light wet snow but that may change... For example... The 120 hour GFS is showing some light wet snow, while the 384 hour GFS shows more of a heavy wet snowstorm for DC, Philly, and NYC... So the 17th (now 16th) storm is still on the "worry list" and it will be something I will have to continue to watch, and as always, i will be sure to keep you updated...

Part 3:

Yes, the models have gone absolutely crazy... Or is it really just Accuweather.com and Weather.com... Well my hometown is Westport, CT, and in the Long Range on Weather.com it shows 49 degrees and sunny on the 16th and 17th when the models show a cold snowstorm... Now this could change, maybe they will catch there mistakes... But i honestly don't know what to make of this... For now I'm going to trust the scary models... And i'm going to show you them right now, off the Penn State E-Wall... Please click on them cause it will be impossible to see...

You can see even these models don't agree with each other!!!! Try to focus more on the first one, that one shows the storm the best... I also want to show you a wacky storm around the 21st of March...

Try to focus on the second one, that shows the storm the best... You can see it looks like a pretty well rounded snowstorm... Now the last model i am going to show you is around the 17th where the models all show this really cold air... Even diving to FL!!! Neither Accuweather or Weather.com show any of this... No snow and No cold... But here it is...

That's it for now... After a really confusing day with the models, i am not sure really what to say... All i can say for sure is we will definitly have to keep an eye on this situation...

Part 4:

The rainstorms and flooding are on there way all across the Northeast!!!! It seems a lot of the rain will be heavy and if you are currently looking outside, and you see snow... You should know now that there is a good chance of having flooding problems over the next couple of days... I am not going to go into to much detail on the subject, but just know that is is going to be a nasty couple of days anywhere in the Northeast... For Most people the rain should hold off until Thursday but you will at least notice an increase in clouds tomorrow... Friday looks rainy and Saturday should be the worst of the rain with some heavy at times even with wind... This is going to be as the low gets closer... There still is the chance some of this becomes severe but that will likely happen the further south you go... Sunday and Monday look to be more of the same with rain and clouds... But.... By Tuesday we may actually clear out... After that it is unclear what happens but if you would really like to know you can go back and read part 2 and 3... Well that is it for now... Try to enjoy the rain!!!!...

Part 5:

Well this part is pretty much what you can expect from the blog as we transition from Winter to Spring... Hurricane season is getting closer and closer and when the time comes for Hurricanes there is likely to be a lot of changes... A lot of storm tracking will be going... In case you did not know, the two types of weather that i try to focus on are the Winter Snowstorms and the Hurricanes... Also a transition you can expect is for you folks down south across the gulf and Florida!!!! I will begin to be talking more and more about you as the severe weather season approaches and as Hurricane season comes... So this is just a little heads up on my forecasts... When Summer comes we may have a problem because i will have no access to any real technology for 7 weeks!!!! So i am not yet sure what I am going to do!!!! Well that's it from here... Enjoy the Weather!!!!

Part 6:

Westport!!!! This is luckily the final part of my blog and it will be just a quick update... Again today we got close to 60 reaching a high of about 58... Tomorrow we will cool off a little especially as some clouds begin to role in... Expect a high of about 55... For Thursday much of the same temperature wise, but the clouds will really role in and as we head toward sunset don't be surprised if you get some sprinkles... Friday it will be cool and wet and Saturday seems to be the worst of the whole Rain even with rain possibly heavy and windy!!! By Sunday we are still in the rain but it should be lighter and same goes to Monday as we begin to finally get back into the upper 40's... After that it remains a mystery for weather, but if you would like to see the long range part 2,3,4 and even 5 will have more information on that... That's it for now.... Enjoy the Weather...

Warm weather doesn't want to leave... what about cold weather... And what about the rain and the snow?

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Warm weather extended...
part 2: Winter still coming back?
Part 3: Plenty of rain coming...
Part 4: ANYMORE SNOW?!?!?!
Part 5: Westport Weather

Part 1:

Well originally it seemed like a 3-5 day warm weather streak... But what about now? Well it seems today was the hottest day and tomorrow it should be closer to 50 or 55 rather than 60, and now it seems that 50-55 degree mark will stay with us for more like a 7-10 day warm weather streak. So that will be a nice change for most of us... Now north of I-80 we'll find a 7-10 day streak of 48-52 degrees and south of I-80 we'll find a 7-10 day streak of 53-57 degrees. Now i will tell you the sun will only last for so long... It seems that after Wednesday the clouds will begin to build in and even some rain may be in store as we work toward the end of the week (more on clouds and rain in part 3). So enjoy this heat and be sure to keep checking back just in case anything changes... That's it for now... More on whats going to happen after these 7-10 days next...

Part 2:

The big question that i feel not one weather website or weather channel or any weather source is answering!!!! And the question is... IS WINTER COMING BACK?!?!... The only source i have of this is the models which have been consistently showing that cold air is going to come back... But when? Well as i said before the next 7-10 days look fairly warm, and even the next 10-14 days don't look "cold"... More like "cool"... But after that the models are suggesting at least one cold shot before winter is all set and done... In this shot there may even be some moisture which may mean... Yes... SNOW (for more on the snow go to part 4)!!!! But for now we'll stick with the temperatures... It seems the next 10-14 day will be in the upper 40's for South of I-80 and mid 40's to the North of I-80... So I'll call that "cool"... As we go to the long range forecast of 15-19 days, it seems South of I-80 will be in the lower 40's and North of I-80 will be in the upper 30's... Now will there be moisture with this chill? Well you will have to read the rest to find out but that's it for now... As always, check back for updates!!!!....

Part 3:

Yes there will be PLENTY of rain... In fact, there is a chance it will be an excessive amount... It is also likely to drive people crazy!!!! We are talking the potential for some kind of rainfall for 6+ days!!!!.... It is also likely to be cloudy and gloomy for these 6+ days!!!.... So the current little drought that we are in will end in a hurry... This will also likely cause a flooding problem because there is still snowfall in a lot of areas including NY, PA, VT, MA, NH, and ME... Also a lot of the mountains are still covered in snow... So this warmth+ days of rain= flooding... So that will be something to watch starting this week... The rain and clouds seem to hold off until Thursday for most and again may last 6+ days!!!! So this is a situation i am monitoring and will continue to do so over the next couple of days!!! That is it for now, keep it tune right here for more updates...

Part 4:

Our second big question is ANYMORE SNOW?!?!?!? And yes there are certainly indications of more snow on the way, especially according to the GFS... I would say that we will go snow free for at least 2 weeks... After that there are indications that we may have more snow on our hands in the Northeast! And what about our 17th snowstorm?!?!? Well the GFS still shows it but way off to the south so for now that is off our worry list... But there is some signs that 3 weeks from today we may have some kind of snowstorm or sometime within the 2 1/2, 3 1/2 week time period. Again this is way to far in the future to set anything in stone so for now it is just a prediction... That's all from here, check back soon for more updates on the snow because it will likely change as we get closer to spring!...

Part 5:

Good evening to everyone in Westport!!!! I hope you enjoyed today because we actually reached 60!!!! That is about 15 degrees above average!!!! This warm streak has now been extended for warmth till at least early next week... Even after that it doesn't get too cold... It'll stay in the mid to upper 40's which is more like "cool"... Now enough about the temperatures... On to the Precip... This is a heads up because after Wednesday the sun will go away... and for a while! It seems Wednesday through at least next Wednesday we will find cloudy and rainy!!!! It will really be just a disgusting week... I am predicting that any snow on the ground will probably be completely gone by next Wednesday, and lucky for us we do not have to worry about any flooding... I also wanted to add in that for the next 2 weeks we will be in the clear for snow, meaning NO SNOW... I will not go further then 2 weeks... If you absolutely need to look past 2 weeks for snow, then go back to part 4.... That is it for now... Anymore questions feel free to leave a comment of send me an email at scooterpec@aol.com!!!! That's it for now... Enjoy the weather, and look for another update tomorrow...

Quick update on everything...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Spring update...
Part 2: More on Snowstorm(s)
Part 3: Westport Weather update...

Part 1:

Today was great!!!! Temperatures reached 55+ south of I-80 and north around 50 or just below with Sunshine and no wind!!!! Tomorrow will only get warmer and nicer!!! By Tuesday we slowly go down to most areas around 50 and by Wednesday look for the same... Then we get cool and rainy late next week... Since this was a very short update i highly suggest you go back to last update for more info...

Part 2:

Just a quick update... The models haven't changed much... They still seem to show some kind of rainstorm for areas south of Maine changing to some kind of snow late this weekend and early next week... So how much snow and how much rain and cold and warm air remain a mystery for the time being but answers should be popping up as we get closer in time... As for the 17th storm everything seems to be the same as the last update... For more info just go back to the last update!...

Part 3:

Just a quick update... Today i believe we reached about 53 degrees and tomorrow expect the high to be around 56!!! It will be a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and no wind... it will probably feel more like 65 at times!!!! This will not last though... By Thursday and Friday expect temps to be dipping back down into the 40's and we could be talking snow in our forecast for late this weekend and early next week... But that is not set in stone, and may change as time gets closer... Since this was a short update i highly suggest you go back to the last update for more info...

-Scott Pecoriello

models go back to no snow?... 17th storm shows up?... And SPRING...

Weather Forecast:
Part 1: Snowstorm for next weekend goes away?
Part 2: 17th storm finally shows up?!?!?
Part 3: Winter does not want to ever go away
Part 4: Spring update...
Part 5: Westport Weather...

Part 1:

Shows up on European...

But...

Disappears on the on the GFS... This shows a rainstorm...

So no the storm did not "disappear" on the models, but whats happened is the GFS is now showing a very strong storm... But rain... And now the European shows a big snowstorm but it seems the targeted area is now the Mid Atlantic area... So there still is consistency because all models are showing this storm from Thursday to Sunday... But they're changing it up... Now the models could just as easily switch back to a monster snowstorm for New England as fast as they took it away so we shall see... Also note that If a rainstorm does happen... We will have to worry about a lot of flooding, especially for the areas who still have snow cover... We will have to keep an eye on this storm, and as always, i will make sure to keep you updated on the latest...

Part 2:

IS THE 17th STORM THAT HAS BEEN RUMORED FOR WEEKS FINALLY SHOWING UP?!?!?!? Well the models are detecting something around the 17th but it does not look like a monster snowstorm... Never the less, it's something... The models are certainly showing something, but they are not showing it well... This is definitely something we will have to watch for the upcoming weeks... Looking at the 372 hr. GFS run, there was some very cold air in place with some kind of system the the GFS was having trouble printing... Here is what is going on around the 17th...

Off the Accuweather pro site...

You can see it shows a storm cutting across the great lakes with the low centered around Toronto... The odd thing is with this set up its usually a lot of rain and warmth across the Northeast but it shows enough cold air in place for snow... You can see the freezing line goes all the way down to NC and just to the north of the Florida Border line... Now depending on how much strength this has will determine whether or not a second low forms just off the coast and brings a monster snowstorm to the Mid-Atlantic and New England so we shall SEE!!!....

Part 3:

This is just absolutely crazy because going out to 372 hours on March 23rd... The GFS run still shows cold air in the northeast!!!! It even has a storm system cutting across the country which would eventually bring some more snow to the north east around 400 hours out!!!! So winter does not want to give up!!!! This is really just insane because we keep think oh this storm is going to be it, but NO, it seems there is still more cold and winter weather to come so we will have to watch out for this cold in the weeks to come!!!...

Part 4:

Yes, it is time for the spring update!!!! Well waking up this morning will probably feel pretty nice because most are wake up to 40's!!!! By this afternoon most places south of I-80 will likely reach 55 degrees or higher and north of I-80 will probably see upper 40's and lower 50's!!!! No wind, nothing but sunshine, so get out there and enjoy it because i know i will... Tomorrow seems to be the nicest of this short spring trick and by Tuesday it'll slowly be dropping down but still nice... Then Wednesday it seems it will rapidly drop and North of I-80 will see mid and lower 40's for highs and south of I-80 will have upper 40's and lower 50's... Well that's it for your spring update! Enjoy it while you can!

Part 5:

An overview of Westport...

Good Afternoon to Westport, it is currently 51 degrees!!!!!! The last time we saw that was probably way back in early and mid October!!!! We could be talking about temperatures close to 55 today and by tomorrow temperatures will be close to or above 55 degrees!!!! ALL SUN, NO WIND!!!!! It will feel probably like 60!!! Lows throughout the next 2 or 3 days will be in the 40's!!!! By Tuesday it will begin to slowly cool down with temperatures still in the 50's, and by Wednesday it seems we will have a rapid drop... We could be talking about back to mid 40's by Wednesday and then it seems cold and rainy for Thursday... I can not show the forecast past that because it seems it may be unpredictable whether we see snow or rain!!!! Yes, i did say SNOW!!!! It may once again be in our forecast along with cold conditions starting late next week... So enjoy this heat while you can!!!! That's it for now!!! As always i will keep you updated on the latest!!!...
